Our Retreat The Yoga

We teach the Iyengar Yoga method.

Why Iyengar Yoga?

Sometimes described as "meditation in action", Iyengar yoga is accessible to everyone. Regular practice increases strength, flexibility and stamina, improves posture and concentration, and quietens the mind.

The Iyengar technique emphasises precision and alignment, and quality of movement is prioritized over quantity. Yoga postures are are held for longer time, allowing tight muscles to lenghten and relax, and helping to focus awareness.

Yoga props such as blankets, blocks and belts may be used to improve your understanding of the poses, or to help support you in a pose.

On your retreat, your yoga practice will be divided into two sessions per day. The morning class is two hours in duration and focuses on energetic and rigorous asanas to increase your strength and improve your stamina.

Evening classes are one and half hour long and are restorative, quieting the mind through breath awareness and finishing with deep, guided relaxation, called Yoga nidra.

The main benefit of going on a retreat is that you truly allow yourself to immerse in the practice. Having the luxury of time to yourself without the usual business of everyday life facilitates faster learning and improvement.

Whatever you do in life, yoga shows you how to do it better.
